An intensive one week (5-day/37.5 hours) course designed to allow someone with little experience to build a simple instrument from scratch
We are closely monitoring the current situation and ongoing Government Guidelines as well as ensuring the School is Covid Secure including lowering the capacity of the workshop.
We have taken necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our staff and students.
We are still taking future bookings for 2021 onwards and if you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Pick from one of our archetypical design choices and build a flat top guitar from raw wood to completion with your choice of timber, hardware (as available), and pickup configuration. Timbers and hardware can be purchased through us at an additional cost to the course. You may, however, choose to bring your own materials and hardware, if you wish. Please fill in the Specification sheet for a quote and to confirm that you will be bringing the correct materials.
We go over tool use, joinery, routing, neck carving, fretwork, neck angles, bridge placement, fine sanding, oiling, assembly, set-up, and all of the myriad of other skills that go into building a guitar. Learn these skills in a fully outfitted workshop with an experienced instructor and training assistant guiding you through each and every process. We are here to answer all of your questions and ensure you leave with all of the knowledge needed to repeat the procedures covered on any instrument.
The four instruments able to be built on this course are an S-type, T-type, single cut, or double cut. Time constraints mean that custom designs are not available on this course. Things like inlay or body carves are similarly restricted in order to ensure that the majority of people are able to finish within the timeframe.
Design and material specs must be finalized and approved at least one month before course start to ensure that all necessary materials can be ordered in good time.
A Specification Sheet and a Student Questionnaire will be downloadable on purchase. Please fill this in and email it to email@example.com. This questionnaire is simply to tell the instructor of your woodworking experience so that the course can be catered to each student.
