Covid-19 Update

We are closely monitoring the current situation and ongoing Government Guidelines as well as ensuring the School is Covid Secure including lowering the capacity of the workshop.

We have taken necessary precautions to ensure the safety of our staff and students.

We are still taking future bookings for 2021 onwards and if you have any questions please email office@crimsonguitars.com

Pick from one of our 4 Kit styles:

  • S-type
  • T-type
  • 'MF' (LP-type)
    • with Dot Inlays
    • with Trapezoid inlays
  • 'SRP' (PRS-type)
    • with Tremolo Cavity
    • without Tremolo Cavity

Time constraints mean that custom designs are not available on this course.  Things like inlay or body carves are similarly restricted in order to ensure that the majority of people are able to finish within the timeframe.

The kit guitar is included in the price of the course and the hardware can be purchased through us at an additional cost to the course.  You may, however, choose to bring your own hardware, if you wish.  Please let us know when you book your course dates to confirm that you will be bringing the correct materials.

We go over tool use, fretwork, bridge placement, fine sanding, finishing, oiling, assembly, set-up, and all of the myriad of other skills that go into building a guitar.  Learn these skills in a fully outfitted workshop with an experienced instructor guiding you through each and every process.  We are here to answer all of your questions and ensure you leave with all of the knowledge needed to repeat the procedures covered.

  • Day One - Fretwork, level, crown and polish.  Fine sanding.  Glue in the neck.
  • Day Two - Applying finish, using our range of Water or Spirit based Stunning Stains.
  • Day Three - Oiling the instrument. Assembly. Set-up.

This 22.5-hour course entails  7.5 hours a day with breaks.  Your days with us will begin at 9 am with coffee/tea and lunch breaks, and end at 5 pm.  There are local shops and pubs within a 10-minute drive of Crimson Guitars though most students bring a packed lunch.  We highly recommend the Thimble Inn for a laid back evening meal.

With our studio based in the picturesque rolling fields of Dorset, close to the town of Dorchester, take this opportunity to combine a unique experience with a refreshing holiday.  We even have our own booking agent called Julie, who will kindly help you find somewhere lovely to stay, in an ideal location, and at a great price.

Please get in touch for more information about accommodation and to let us know how we can help you be the best guitar maker you can be.
