This is an intensive 10 Day/75 Hour Course run over 2 weeks, Monday to Friday.
This Course is designed to either instruct the student who may have limited or little experience - or the additional time in this particular course allows for the more experienced student to attempt a more complex instrument (or two) to be built.
We do recommend a degree of experience in order to facilitate the more complex techniques covered in this course.
We are closely monitoring the current situation and ongoing Government Guidelines as well as ensuring the School is Covid Secure.
While we acknowledge that as of 19th July 2021 it is no longer law to socially distance or wear face masks we continue to take precautions to ensure the safety of our staff and students for the foreseeable future. This includes:
A Negative Lateral Flow Test on the start day of the course (and possible future tests depending on the length of the course)
The wearing of face masks for all students and staff
We are now taking bookings for 2022/23 onwards.
If you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org
At the completion of this course, you will have built a completely custom instrument with your choice of design, timber, hardware (as available), and pickup configuration.
Timbers and hardware can be purchased through us at an additional cost to the course. You may, however, choose to bring your own materials and hardware. Please complete the Specification Sheet, either for a quotation should you wish to purchase from Crimson, or to confirm that you will be bringing the correct materials.
A Specification Sheet and Student Questionnaire will be downloadable on purchase, please fill these in and email them to email@example.com attention Rikki.
The questionnaire is simply to tell the instructor of your woodworking experience so that the course can be catered to each student.
Design and material specs must be finalised and approved at least one month before the course start to ensure that all necessary materials can be ordered in good time.
This Course includes: tool use, joinery, routing, neck carving, fretwork, body carving, basic inlay, neck angles, bridge placement, fine sanding, oiling, assembly, set-up, and the myriad other skills that go into building a guitar.
Learn these skills in a fully outfitted workshop with an experienced instructor and training assistant guiding you through each and every process. By the end of your day at Crimson you will leave with all of the knowledge needed to repeat the procedures on any instrument.
This 75-hour course entails 7.5 hour days, beginning at 9 am and ending at 5 pm. There are local shops and pubs within a 10-minute drive of Crimson Guitars though most students bring a packed lunch.
With our studio based in the picturesque rolling fields of Dorset UK, close to the town of Dorchester, take this opportunity to combine a unique experience with a refreshing holiday.
Should you require accommodation during your course we have a dedicated booking agent who, for a small fee, will be able to help you.
