6 Day Guitar Building Course
6 Day Guitar Building Course
An intensive six-day/51 hours course based in the UK designed to allow someone with limited or little experience to build a simple instrument from scratch
Courses will be put on hold until it is safe for schools to open again.
We are planning to begin courses again in September, unless advised otherwise. We are still taking bookings for 2021 onwards and if you have any questions please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Build a completely custom instrument with your choice of design, timber, hardware (as available), and pickup configuration. Timbers and hardware can be purchased through us at an additional cost to the course. You may, however, choose to bring your own materials and hardware, if you wish. Please fill in the Specification sheet for a quote and to confirm that you will be bringing the correct materials.
We go over tool use, joinery, routing, neck carving, fretwork, body carving, basic inlay, neck angles, bridge placement, fine sanding, oiling, assembly, set-up, and all of the myriad of other skills that go into building a guitar. Learn these skills in a fully outfitted workshop with an experienced instructor and training assistant guiding you through each and every process. We are there to answer all of your questions and ensure you leave with all of the knowledge needed to repeat the procedures covered on any instrument.
The additional time allows for more complex instruments to be built but we do still recommend a higher degree of experience in order to facilitate the more complex techniques covered in this course.
Design and material specs should be finalised and approved at least two weeks before course start to ensure that all necessary materials can be ordered in good time.
A Specification Sheet and Student Questionnaire will be downloadable on purchase, please fill these in and email them to email@example.com care of James Blackburn. The questionnaire is simply to tell the instructor of your woodworking experience so that the course can be catered to each student.
