What a fantastic week spent at Crimson Guitars building my first guitar. From a pile of wood to a fully-functioning electric guitar in 5 days!

I was a little apprehensive walking in on Monday, but needn’t have been. The tutors and other students were all super welcoming and immediately encouraged me to use the ‘Caramel Wafer’ top I’d prepared at home.

Huge thanks to James and Dom for the facilitation and tuition and to the other students for being such great company all week.

If you’re thinking of booking a course just do it. No prior experience is required, the only prerequisites are enthusiasm and a desire to learn. Cost-wise it’s not cheap; factor in travel, accommodation and living costs on top of course fees and you’ll want to buy ‘a few’ tools as well! However, the experience, the skills you’ll learn and the confidence you’ll gain from attending are immense. And best of all, you leave with a unique guitar built by you. Over half of the students there while I was there were repeat customers - says it all. Truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
