13 days to the London Guitar Show - Stand 244
Apologies for the delays to the diary.. much going on in preperation for the show that isn't really that photogenic.. still, here's a few bit's and pieces that you might find interesting...

the multi-guitar stand has been rounded over and here has the first coats of oil applied.. it seems that I have a fetish for oil here...

as these four beasties are also on the recieving end of several coats a day..

Jakko's new signature model is ready for her inal cleanup and then hardware,..

the fingerboard has to be cleaned and reoiled with lemon oil..something you should all do with your guitars at least every six months or so!

after buffing..

I use various grits of wet and dry paper to sand down the oil to get a lovely sheen

it ends up looking somewhat akin to nitrocellulose laquer... but is harder wearing..

the nut is begun with a solid bone blank.. which is then cut by hand for a perfect fit..

the hardware is all in.. and the bridge on this model is recessed into the body to give a lovely low profile..

At this point in the proceedings Michael arrives to discuss the final inlay and hardware options.. including the tailpiece that I'll be building out of the same Honduras Rosewood as the fingerboard..

back to Jakko's baby.. the truss rod cover is fashioned out of aluminium to match the inlays..

and then I wire her for sound! .. I've used a set of 'Toil and trouble' pickups designed by Wizard pickups in collaberation with us.. the best sounding pickups I've ever heard!

Onto the Vee... the purpleheart fingerboard.. it's naturally that colour! is cleaned and oiled..

ready for final finishing and the addition of hardware..

the sun is out and the dog needs his ball..

the six seperate bridge saddles all need a ground wire.. not something I thought about when designing this baby!

strings and pickups all present and accounted for..

the Descendant has just been through the same process..

Gold hardware, P90 wizard pickups and a beautiful poplar top.. this is one of my favourites!!
all these guitars will be wired up tomorrow..
All my best,
