20 days to London Guitar Show - Stand 244

The day begins with yet another coat of oil going on these guitars.. and a bass,.. we're getting there though, by the end of next week all these beauties should be singing!

Archies PAF 'Vine' is being fine sanded with 1200 grit paper and lemon oil.. she's ended up with a lovely sheen that is a joy to hold and to play...

same process carried on all over..

the bone nut is cut and marked out.. prior to having my trademark scalloped shaping..

and several hours later she is together and looking good!

finally onto some wiring.. this is performed in a seperate workshop that is still half full of the detritus of a house move.. here you see the first section of metal tape being stuck in place to shield the cavity from extraneous elctrical noise..

most of the wiring in place.. the clips are on either side of the capacitor and act as heat sinks.. the cap tends to burn out when you solder it in..

and all complete and looking good. I take twice as long to wire up a guitar than most people as I take the trouble to make it look pretty.. just because it's hidden doesn't mean it should look like a botch job!

and the back plate in place.. I love this mesh stuff!

the same process happened to the Scallop.. here Bud watches on while I take photo's for the Instruments page

and the wiring is also begun on the SEAR guitar.. she'll be together tomorrow.. and I can't wait to let rip on her!

the first doctored photo for the instruments page.. you're looking at half an hour of painfull work here.. I hat computers!!
Question of the Day
What is the Buzz Feiton system?
The Buzz Feiton tuning system is the most effective way of getting your guitar to play in tune all down the neck.. all the time. I had to undergo training to retro-fit the system and here (straight from their website) is how it works..
Step 1: The nut is moved closer to the first fret to eliminate sharpness at the first three frets caused by end tension. This step employs our exclusive Shelf Nut branded with our lightning-bolt logo for authenticity. Installation of this part is non-invasive to your instrument. Your Authorized Retrofitter removes the original nut and installs our Shelf Nut according to our patented formulas for your guitar based on its scale length, string gauge and fret width.
Step 2: Your guitar is intonated according to our patented pitch offset formulas. This step uses the existing adjustable bridge saddles on your guitar bringing each string into pleasing intonation with every other string at every fret across the entire fingerboard.
I charge £110 to fit this system on your guitar.. a good portion of this goes towards buying the logo'd nut.. but it really really really works!
Have a good weekend.. avoid the traffic!
