A new year coming up and a new feature on the website.. this diary.. enjoy!

Halfway through the day and it just keeps on getting better!  Lots of pics here of the new semi-acoustic Robert Fripp model prototype in the various stages she's been through today!  I'm hoping between woking on this guitar.. I'm hoping to show it to Robert late next week .. and panicing about the London Guitar Show in April.. I did ask for it!

Anyway, here's the RF proto in all it's mahoganified splendour!

These two pics are the sides being glued on... classic violin-making techniques.

In this one you can see the not-so-fine layer of dust on my tool-rack, and the bending iron used to shape the ribs..

30.12rf4

Here we are with the sides on and complete.. top going on next.. don't tell me I do too much in one day!!!

30.12rf5

And here she is, the top on and ready to carve... once the glue's dried.

Questions, comments?  The only major difference from the LP shape wise will be some contouring on the bottom of the belly to help give better access to the controls of the GK3 MIDI synth unit.. gonna be plenty of room for wires in this baby!   (hey Dennis.. what do you think?)

Here are three guitars for the show roosting under my roof... the front is an update on my Descendant model, shaped back contour, drop-top, stunning figured pear-wood cap.. ebony 'board etc..  the neck is a three piece mahogany sandwhich with maple stringers.. I once jumped on four neck made using different techniques.. the angled headstock made like this one bent flat to the floor and didn't break!!!  What more can you say... oh, and I'm a big guy.. to much time spent in the workshop not exersizing!!!   Till later then... more RF pics to follow tonight or tomorrow!

dusty... very very dusty... nonetheless... here's the nearly complete guitar!

30.12rf8

thinning down the back.. nothing like working by hand to bring out the sweat!

30.12rf8

the carving begins..

30.12rf10

thinned....

30.12rf11

rough shaping done..

30.12rf12

still messy.. but getting there..

30.12rf13

have to wait till the new year for more supplies of the sanding disks I've just run out of!!!   NOOOOOOO!!!

Anyway... good night!
