1

a few weeks ago Giles got his teeth into my phone..

2

destroying the screen, camera etc etc .. luckily Crimson Guitars has some very cool customers..

3

one of whom managed to fix it!!! ..saved me throwing a £400 phone in the bin! (and it looks lik he has a nice piece of ash somewhere in his office!)

3

pictres now taken with the phone again!! .. this is where we left off last week with Fred's slimline/hollow Robert fripp model..

4

after cleaning up the excess timber from the deep-set-neck-tenon the wiring cavity is routed

5

..the bandsaw is not big enough to split this recycled coffee table.. unfortunately..

6

which means I have to get physical.. not my favourite activity!

7

but in the end I have two single-piece figured tops..

8

the back is planed flat... another time consuming job..

9

the other side still has varnish on it from it's former life!

10

the fingerboard cutout is marked, bandsawed and chiseled to fit

11

and the final job is cutting the recess for the veneer which protects the wiring cavity from excess glue.

12

and then she is glued up and left overnight to settle

13

on to Dave's guitar.. the excess neck material (solid rosewood!) is removed

14

and the flamed walnut wings are planed up

15

and glued in place.. she's going to be a pretty one!

16

the sides of Fred's RF are trimmed

17

and this bearing cutter/table router is used to cut the binding channel

18

the top is then roughly carved to bring the edges down close to the height of the binding..

19

on to a few repairs.. this £4 charity shop nylon needed some parts for the tuners

17

and re-stringing.. but ended up as a nice first guitar..

23

this Jackson Randy Rhoads (one of my favourite guitars!) needed setting up.. once again I realise just how much I despise floyd rose systems!!

24

the ends of the binding are glued together to make a start

25

and then slowly glued around the guitar.. glue gets absolutely everywhere!!

26

..nearly there..

27

and she is now coming to life!

Have fun.. Ben
