Today begins with Chris' PAF model guitar..

the tuner holes are drilled

the truss rod access hole is covered with a piece of masking tape to stop any glue getting in the truss rods thread

then a veneer of maple is glued in place

Once it is dry the excess is pared away with a sharp knife and we have a guitar with all of her components in place!!

back to the Burns replica.. (dirty word I know!!)

the threaded insert from the original body is removed and cleaned up with a very sharp chisel

a 25mm hole is drilled (using the pillar drill)

and the insert is glued in place.. being careful not to let the glue affect the truss rod..

the scratchplate.. custom built for this project (not by me) is placed on the body to check shape and the radii on the edges of the body..

the curves marked off are rasped and filed .. and then a good few hours are spent sanding through the grits..

this original plate is used to mark out the tuner positions.. and then this is checked for perfect straight string pull

a 1.5mm hole is drilled straight through and then the 7mm bit is put through from both front and back

and then the final bout of sanding is performed

and we have a guitar that it ready for spraying..

look at the difference between these two, believe it or not these are the same scale length!!

she will look great in black with chrome hardware!!
All my best, Ben
