Monday turned into an admin day, unfortunately every now and then the boring stuff has to be attended to.. and today didn't fare much better really..

first off the workshop is cleaned up and readied for a major push workwise

and then I have a relaxing four hour round trip to a not-so-local timber yard.. this is a view of one of the little villages on the way

at the timber yard there is a lovely art gallery, coffee shop etc.. no time for that today though

on to the wood!! Green Oak etc outside

and guitar quality dried timbers inside.. I can walk around this place for hours and still find more that I want!

Back at HQ (getting the timber in my Focus was when I really started to miss my stolen trabsit van!!) the bandsaw's blade needs changing for a larger, more meaty beast..

this chunk of solid rosewood is to have something to do with making a muti-lam rosewood neck

for Jonothan.. the plans are checked for size and to make sure the through neck is long enough!

three sections all ready..

multi-lam mahogany necks are needed too, here white pencil is used to mark out what we need

and this piece has an angle cut on it, it will be the central section of this neck

the machine room is looking a bit dusty, but nevertheless is fully functional.. almost

a job I have been putting off for months has become unavoidable.. procrastination sucks!!!

the two blades on the planer/thicknesser need to be sharpened, and I can't waste the time it would take to send them off.. so it is done by hand with a combination of diamond stones and water stones.. in the end I slice my finger open.. so it is pretty sharp!!

it is however time consuming and Bud became rather bored with the process.. he does take up the wierdest positions!

the two pencil marks on the wood are used to reposition the blades, when the blade pulls the wood along I mark where it starts and finishes and then try and match it up with the other side of the blade and then with the second blade.. in the end
