Tuesday 25th September '07
As happens on the odd Monday yesterday was spent mired in a morass of mind-boggling malingerings... admin.. on to more interesting happenings today

two 8 string Baritone necks are now ready for some serious work. the radius is planed onto the fingerboard by hand

and tidied up with a large random oribital sander

the scale length is double checked against the plans, this being a baritone and non-standard length my policy is definitly measure.. measure.. cut..

the fret slots are marked out on both necks..

at which point I feel a puppy staring at me... lunch time me-thinks?

the fret slots are labouriously (my least favorite job!) cut

and then the mirror image inlay design drawn in..

every dot of varying sizes is drilled in place

and then I start with the large abalone position markers

followed by various different bits of coloured glass, shell and metal.. I even use 10 small cubic zirconias in this design.. fun fun fun!

and here you see them after applying some oil..

once the DNAesque lines are added this will be a very impressive look!

today I feature Jakko M. Jakszyks signature guitar.. Double Cutaway PAF type with highly figred top, Kahler trem, Wizard pickups and a super slim neck with belly carving... one of my favourites!
till tomorrow,
B
