the English Walnut cap is being prepared.. it is roughly trimmed prior to

being planed flat and ready for glueing to the body.

like so.. lots of clamps..

the same process repeated.. on the body for a RF model

and then planed.. very hot work in the current climate

the tone chambers are marked out on Fred's RF Hollow

and on to the Figured Elm cap soon to be belonging to Amit's Robert Fripp Slimline model

planed... and pretty

once the Mode I is dry she is trimmed much closer to the line ready for final shaping

using a large bearing cutter and router around the template

a perfect finish...an almost-guitarin the making..

the same bearing cutter is used on both RF models..

the deep-set-neck-tenon joint is tidied up prior to marking out the recess on the body..

and then the cavity is routed to depth.. this has to be exactly right!

after testing it out and some very fine adjustments the neck is glued in place and we almost have a guitar

On to the neck joint for the Mode I.. a new template is made for the Gibson Style joint

after testing the template out on some rough timber the neck itself is bandsawed roughly and then routed

the female part of the joint is cut, filed and sanded to size.. tested..

tested..

and we have a neck joint... we're nearly there on all three of these babies!

speaking of babies... my nephew's first electric guitar! Start 'em young!
All my best,
Ben
