 Well, as you've no doubt seen we have a new entry page for the site, over the next few months this will be developed with Flash content and will end up looking the dogs naughty bits... (any of you out there who fancy doing some flash work in exchange for some luthiering give us a call!)

here is the start point this morning... yesterday I spent all day, pretty much, carving the back and then recessing this bowl back crafty acoustic..

after another 4 and a bit hours I'm at this stage.  Basically the whole thing is about 3.5mm thick.. which is still a bit too much.

the hard bit is here now, using miniature violin makers planes.. which have two shortcomings, use them for more than five minutes and you get cramp in your hand from manipulating something that small... and if you grit your teeth and work through the cramp pretty soon the friction heats the brass up and you're holding a very hot piece of metal.. .. I love my job! 

I take a break to set up and photograph this Eros

and the Vintage Rewound bass.. they are both picked up by their new owner today..

by 6pm I'm almost finished with the mini-planes..

and by 8 the back is about 2.5mm thick and sounds like I want it to.. the ides however still need a lot of tidying up... later in the week!
