1

A plethora of guitars are in for Buzz Feitonising, general setup and re-vibrating..

2

including THREE of these Ibanez JS guitars.. all with different tunings though..

3

and this lovely old 70's Gibson Les Paul..

4

Looks like my work is cut out for me.. my avid readers will no doubt know that I truly despise the Floyd Rose trem system.. and are now wincing along with me at the thought of setting up four guitars with these abominations installed.. your sympathy is very much appreciated.. cheers..

5

therefore, to delay the pain, I begin with the Gibson..strings removed

6

filthy fingerboard cleaned with Naphta and elbow grease..

7

and then, after masking off the fingerboard, the frets are all polished using various grits of paper followed by Autosol.. great stuff!

8

the fingerboard prior to applying oils and wax..

9

and after all that, and a good polish.. this beauty is not in need of the full Buzz Feiton thing so she is set up as a normal guitar..

10

although in the process I notice that those nice men at the Gibson factory have installed the bridge and tailpiece off center by at least a couple of mm .. the next person who asks me why I think my guitars are better than anything Gibson, PRS et al can put out gets a punch in the nose!

11

The first of three JS beasties is now on the bench..

12

It has this nifty Tremel-no device installed.. you can have floating, locked, up only or down only.. although if they want it to work a bit better they should give me a call.. the little thumb screws hold the bar in place and do all these wonders, however the shaft that they screw down to is smooth and slippery.. put some grooves in the bloody thing and it won't slip.. I locked it in hardtail mode and removed the strings.. it slipped under the pressure of the strings and made my life difficult!

13

the Buzz Feiton offset is calibrated and a small amount of the finerboard is removed.. carefully..

14

back to polishing the frets.. this makes for an extremely comfortable player!

15

after re-oiling the 'board I polish it on the grinder

16

and end up with pure loveliness!

17

On to this project bass, I installed a new set of Wizard pickups after the client refinished the bass himself..

18

wires all exposed prior to tinning etc..

19

and after a bit of work the beast is set up and intonated..

20

looks a bit out of place next to the other guitars in the show room.. but what the hell, it will make an impression on stage!!

All my best,

Ben
