Production mode... I love it!!! the body is prepared for the through-neck Vee Mark II..

carefully marked out ready for cutting etc.. even though this will have a solid colour finish..

planed to a mirror finish for a perfect joint..

and glued... and a confused looking Bud in the frame..

a chunk of Zebrano cut down for a possible acoustic rib set..

planed to rough thickness... before giving up.. this timber just isn't cut out for good acoustic response, way too hard..

the other guitar is a replica'ish' of a Gibson Moderne... I'm calling it the Crimson Guitars Mode I
the full-size drawing is transfered over to a plywood blank which will be turned into the permanent template

after cutting it out on the bandsaw the edges are plained and filed to a good finish..

checking out how it will look when completed.. could be nice.. I've wanted to build this guitar for years!!

the headstock trimmed ready for adding some pretty bits of wood..

mahogany glued with a piece of padouk in between..

after the Vee's body has dried I run it over the planer to get a nice flat finish..

then the joint is planed

double checked..

and one side glued.. glueing both made the sides slip out of place..

headstock's glued and then trimmed to size and shape..

this is a body blank that I prepared a few weeks ago for the Robert Fripp Slimline model.. the shape is marked out

roughly cut to size.. this reduces the amount of hand planing that will be done later in readiness for the cap

the second side of the Vee is glued in place..

the beginings of the body of the Mode I .. mahogany..

planed carefully to size..

and glued with strips of padouk as accents.. more tomorrow.. after an early morning trip to the timberyard..
All my best,
Ben
