Thursday 20th September '07
the day was spent mostly in the car or at DGM HQ delivering one of Roberts new Hollow Body guitars..

a few pics of him with the new beastie

with which he was most impressed, aside from some fine-tuning and re-vibrating the guitar was a total success.. especially the extra pickup at the neck which boosts the sustainer and givea distortion effect.. this probably won't be used often, but will be fun.

.... oh, we have these meetings in the kitchen at DGM, makes it easier to get to the kettle

Robert also met the NST Acoustic for the first time...

for a start from now on I will be building Roberts necks like this one, very thin and very straight.. the idea is to have the guitar feeling totally uniform right up the fingerboard..

and for two I will be building one of these with Robert to see if we can get one that will sound even better!

during the first visit to DGM I realised that my carefully packed toolbox had been forgotten.. in place of which I had taken a home-baked cheese cake for Robert and the DGM minions to enjoy..

therefore I brought the guitar back to perform some final tweaking... the bridge was adjusted so that it was easier to vibrate..

which took a while..

and then the action and truss rod were adjusted.. with absolutlely no bow in the neck at all.. not normaly the way I do it but for Robert this feels right..

a bit dusty..

but very pretty.. I left the camera at the shop for the next trip to DGM where we played around with the tuning and intonation.. we'er becoming dis-satisfied with the buzz feiton way of doing things.. there must be a better way!!
Anyway, Robert was most pleased and I am now a very happy luthier..
all my best,
Ben
