Well, the began with the final wiring of Fabio Mittino's signature model.. next up on that will be various bits of routing and then she'll be off.. the rest of the day was spent ogling pics from Jim, the new sprayer, and working on the final incarnation of 05Ric's signature extended range bass..

the prototype pickup has extremely powerful magnets in order to pick the strings up through the rosewood top..

the pickup cavity is routed.. carefully to leace just 1mm of the top in place

Jasper looking slightly peaved... he doesn't like the sound of the router

the recessed cover cavity is routed

then the recessed volume position is routed

and here you see where the amended carving has been drawn in place

after carving and fine-sanding the whole guitar, the job of a few hours I mask off the bits I don't want stained

and then carefully add this 'vintage gold' stain I mixed up

My puppies...

five or six coats of sanding sealer are applied and then after it has thouroughly dried everything is sanded down through to 1200 grit paper

several coats of wax are applied

and then buffed to this lovely hard wearing and pretty yet thin and vibration-friendly finish... on to the new pics from Jim Fogarty Graphics

this Ibanez was very poorly refininshed, seemingly by a large dog counting the hairs in the laquer..

after she is stripped down a coat of matt black is applied

a background of stars and some cloud..

some Northern lights

and the finishing touches... my jaw drops!! Next up for this one is the laquer.. I can't wait!

This RF Slim is finished...

and buffed!!! Look at that!!

she'll be winging her way home soon for final vibrating and graduating into a guitar!
all my best,
Ben
