these necks have been underway for the last few days, first thing the binding channel is routed on each neck

which makes for some pretty shavings..

each neck is run over the planer to remove excess waste off the top prior to

planing the camber on the fingerboard.. this is a compound radius

it is then sanded through the grits with a large random orbital sander

the fret slot spaces are marked out, and double-checked

before being marked with a protractor..

and then cut by hand..

this is Amit's Robert Fripp Slimline model, the binding is natural wood, maple, ebony and walnut

the end piece is mitred and glued on..

the RF logo taped in place

and etched roughly..

and then tidied up.. this is like using a pen that weighs a few pounds!

the etching is filled with a mixture of glue and dust

and then more glue once it has been sanded down, this is to seal it off permanently..

the dog... seems to like sleeping on his back a lot.. even when the sun has moved!

the Vee Mark II's neck, the fret slots cut out..

and binding glued in place..

and then, using a violin-makers plane, I trim it down to the level of the 'board

the end binding glued in place..

the RF model is sanded carefully through the grits

I'm also building a guitar based loosely on the fabled Gibson Moderne..(Hi Graham!!) this neck will be on that guitar.. I've used cream and black binding instead of my usual white, this gives it a slight vintage feel..

and finally the plastic bindings are all scraped clean.. fretting etc all coming up tomorrow!
All my best.. have a good weekend!
