Thursday/Friday 6th/7th December

I must apologise for the paucity of diary entries for this week.. illness and random computer perambulations have conspired to put out of the loop.. we are now back though and it is full steam ahead!!

1

Firstly we see Rolly getting in the way in the office.. two minutes before this pic he decide to sit on the laptops keyboard and opened a speach program I didn't know was on the computer, 20 random windows and sent 3 emails... what can you do??

2

The project body was built by a budding luthier friend who then lost access to the workshop he was using..

3

so it is up to me to finish the build.. the side dot markers are installed in the zebrano neck

4

and various templates made to route the through body pickup cavities an the neck joint..

5

everything is predrilled to make life easier for the router..

6

and then everything is routed out..

7

including the neck pocket.. obviously a very important joint!

8

The neck pocket is tested, and it doesn't need any pressure to hold it in place.. the bridge position is then worked out

9

and the control layout, borrowed from the strat, is marked out and drilled..

10

the back cavity is routed out.. after making another template

11

and finally the neck is glued in place and left over-night to dry..

12

the through-body stringing positions are marked..

13

and the ferrule holes drilled.

14

while this beast flies in front of my window.. he goes past at the same time every day.. and signals a coffee break!

15

the nut is cut from a bone blank

16

and shaped carefully.

17

then the outline of the cutaway is tidied up with the bobbin sander

18

and a battery compartment hole routed into the back..

19

'no fear' is a good adage when doing this.. one slip and I could lose a hand whilst splitting this piece of spalted beech down the middle..

20

but in the end it makes a beautiful back-plate

21

and, after an hour or so of sanding, the guitar is ready for finishing etc..

I promise that from Monday there will be more diary entries!.. in the meantime please check out the Christmas Sale guitars.. everything must go, (..I need to buy christmas presents for my puppies!! ;))

All my best,

Ben
